Galactic Chalcedony

A new find of 2020 of an interesting dark grey/greenish obsidian occurred in Java (Jawa Timur)

The material shows lots of spheres formed from denitrification from the obsidian matrix. The greenish color is due to iron and these Spherulites are sometimes empty, partially filled or completely solid with concentric small crystals on the surface. The conclusion after analysis has proven a silica content, therefore these little spheres are Cristobalite.

The cabochon is hand polished on both sides.
